Japan day 1: Akihabara and Ginza

Akihabara is an extremely energetic place. Every surface is covered in writing, anime and other advertisements, like this billboard advertising a maid cafe. Walking around Akihabara was a stimulating experience, with it's music and bright arcades. Toy capsule and claw machines are everywhere!
Colourful anime figurines everywhere! Someone doesn't quite fit in though. The wild wild westerner.
Ginza was quite the opposite to Akihabara's cluttered energetic appearance. Akihabara is like a kid who's had too much sugar and Ginza is a mature and stylish adult. These are the steps in Abercrombie and Fitch. The lights are like stain glass windows. They really contrasted with the rest of the store which was mostly black and dimly lit. The colour scheme was very conservative compared to Akihabara.
The signage was very minimalistic and it all felt consistent. Most shops only had one small sign, with a limited colour pallet. Ginza had more clean and practical signage and ascetically pleasing design.
